Alignment, Strengthening, and
the Use of Feet in Pilates Exercise

First-generation teacher Carola Trier used to say, "So your back hurts...let me see your feet!" The feet are the foundation of our vertical posture. Learn about proper foot placement and how to strengthen and correct faulty foot positions in dynamic Pilates exercises. If you have never worked with the Pilates Foot Corrector or Toe Exerciser, this is your opportunity to learn more about these unique pieces of equipment. Jillian will also explore the proper placement of the feet on the Wunda Chair pedal, Reformer bar, and Cadillac push-thru bar. Pinky balls, pencils, towels, and exercise bands will also be used to strengthen and mobilize the intrinsic muscles of the feet.

Sat., Nov. 19
9:30-11:00 AM

Postural Analysis, B.E.A.M. Fundamentals, and Matwork

First-generation teacher Carola Trier always started her new clients with a postural analysis. Jillian Hessel, who was one of Carola's students, will inspire you to carry on this tradition by teaching you to perform a detailed postural analysis on your clients. She will then take you through her own B.E.A.M. (Breath/Energize/Align/Move) pre-Pilates Fundamentals on the Mat, followed by classic matwork exercises.

Sat., Nov. 19
3:30-5:30 PM

The Cadillac

It is no wonder Jillian is highly respected for her work on this unique apparatus — she owns an original, Pilates-built Cadillac handed down to her by Carola Trier. Explore the versatility of the Cadillac, from basic exercises to advanced acrobatic and dance-inspired movements, as well as specialty exercises passed down to Jillian from first-generation teachers Trier and Kathy Grant.

Sun., Nov. 20
8:00-9:30 AM

Reformer Workout

Start your day with this intermediate-level Reformer class. Be prepared to move and deepen your classical Reformer technique, while learning some of Jillian's favorite routines.
