THE WONDERFUL WUNDA CHAIR WORKSHOP
Study with Jillian in an intimate setting...Maximum 12 students only!
This new workshop with Jillian Hessel will focus on the Pilates Wunda Chair and the High (Electric) Chair exercises. Many people don't realize there is a complete, full-body, extremely versatile workout on the Wunda Chair. Both the Electric & Wunda Chair are unique because, unlike most of the Mat, Reformer, and Cadillac exercises, they integrate the Pilates concepts of trunk stabilization and spinal mobility into a vertical postural alignment.
The Chairs also offer a myriad of alternative exercises for rehab, prenatal, and aging populations, as well as variety — and just plain fun! — for healthy clients wanting a change of pace.
We will also cover the split pedal chair, and exercises using the handles, so be prepared to review what you already know, and learn some of Kathy Grant's and Carola Trier's special exercises created for dancers and special populations.

This workshop will focus on exercises performed on the Wunda Chair, Ladder, and Step Barrels that have been modified specifically for clients with postural and muscular imbalances and/or scoliosis. We also will delve more deeply into the "hands-on" assistance and mental imagery necessary to help clients absorb and internalize the corrective adjustments.
Jillian will begin the day with a 1½-hour Mat Class that serves as an "active review" of the Pre-Pilates Fundamentals. These Fundamentals are a vital foundation that needs to be reinforced in every session, with every client. However, they are even more important when teaching an out-of- balance, asymmetrical client to re-pattern and correct faulty muscle recruitment.
Mat Class will provide all participants an opportunity to warm up, move, and integrate the corrective exercises into their own bodies. We will then progress onto the Apparatus, and spend the rest of the morning and afternoon sessions exploring the asymmetrical exercises, imagery and the one-on-one "hands-on" partnering techniques necessary to instruct clients with structural imbalances.

LEARNING FROM THREE MASTERS
Join Jillian in this unique workshop, where she will convey the teaching philosophies of her three greatest Pilates mentors: Kathy Grant, Carola Trier, and Ron Fletcher.
She will begin the morning portion with a "souped-up" version of Carola Trier's Posture Analysis, and then move on to Pre-Pilates Fundamentals passed onto her by Kathy Grant. The morning session will wind up with a Mat Class based on a hybrid blend of Jillian's inheritance from all three Master Teachers.
The afternoon session will focus on exercises and progressions from all three Master Teachers on the Universal Reformer, with a liberal sprinkling of modern updates and modifications added on by Jillian herself. Come join the fun!

Postural Analysis, B.E.A.M. Fundamentals & Matwork with Jillian Hessel
Carola Trier always started her clients off with a Postural Analysis. Jillian will inspire you to carry on this time-honored tradition by having the workshop participants perform a detailed postural analysis on one another! She will then introduce her B.E.A.M. (Breathe, Energize, Align & Move) Fundamentals on the Mat, including Breathing Practice. The last section of the workshop will be a Classic Mat class, including modern updates and modifications to the exercises, so that students learn to work out at their own pace in a mixed-level class.
For those who might be interested, or who cannot make the workshop, Jillian will also be available at Soulistic earlier in the day (11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M.) to teach a few private and/or semi-private classes.
This is an ideal opportunity to work directly with Jillian if you plan on being in Chicago for the upcoming Pilates on Tour conference (see below)!
